Tallahassee, Fla. — Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration (Agency) has entered a new phase with Florida’s free, internet-based personal health record, My Florida Health eBook. Each Medicaid recipient’s personal health record is now populated with data from services paid for by Florida Medicaid.  Medicaid recipients can use the My Florida Health eBook to track information about their health care visits, procedures, medications, immunizations and more.  Users can also add notes and other information, such as allergies, to their personal health record.  This project was made possible through an innovative partnership between the Agency, Availity, HealthTrio LLC and Healthwise.

“Thanks to the commitment of private sector leaders we can provide personal health records for Medicaid recipients in the state of Florida,” said Secretary Elizabeth Dudek.  “We will encourage recipients to use their personal health record to improve their health.”

With the My Florida Health eBook, Florida’s Medicaid recipients will be able to create an account to access their internet-based personal health record at www.ahca.healthtrioconnect.com.  Other features include:

  • Family History: Assists users in tracking their family history, and allows them to print and share this information with their health care provider.
  • Health Tracker: Users can chart their personal health information such as height, weight, blood sugar levels, blood pressure and more.
  • Wallet Card: Encourages users to enter emergency contact and key health information to be printed and carried with them at all times.
  • The Healthwise® Knowledgebase: a robust library of more than 6,000 decision-focused health topics in plain, uncomplicated language is integrated with the personal health record. The health content educates Medicaid recipients and helps them make better decisions with their doctors.

“We are pleased to support this innovative program that enables Floridians to take a more active role in managing their own health information, and supports physicians in making better informed medical decisions,” said Russ Thomas, Availity CEO.

The Agency contracted with Jacksonville-based Availity, a national leading health information network, to provide the platform for physicians to access their patients’ health records. HealthTrio produced the personal health record for Medicaid recipients,My Florida Health e-Book, under a subcontract with Availity.  HealthTrio further provides user-friendly health information content through the Healthwise® Knowledgebase.

“Personal health records allow consumers to review their medical history, prepare for and follow-up with their health care providers, as well as set personal goals,” said Dr. Malik Hasan, president and CEO of HealthTrio, LLC.  “We are excited to reach this milestone in our partnership with the Agency.”

The Agency will reach out through hospitals, county health departments, and community organizations across the state to promote the use of My Florida Health eBook to Florida’s Medicaid recipients.  For more information on the My Florida Health eBook please visit http://www.fdhc.state.fl.us/Medicaid/MediPass/aboutCare.shtml.
