The UCF College of Medicine has appointed Lindsay Schagrin as Director of the UCF Regional Extension Center (UCF REC). Schagrin has been with the UCF REC since January 2012 where she most recently served as Assistant Director, Field Operations leading the team of Account Managers who provide hands on support to physician practices. In this role, she was instrumental in managing the team that has assisted over 2,600 physicians at 560 organizations in the seven-county Central Florida area in the adoption, implementation and meaningful use of electronic health record systems. To date, the UCF REC program has helped those providers receive over $34.8 million in federal incentive payments. Prior to that Schagrin served as the Education and Outreach Manager for the UCF REC, overseeing the team that led physician outreach activities, marketing, communications, events, and educational related programs. Prior to joining the UCF REC, she was Field Director of Operations for Optum (a UnitedHealthcare company) where she managed a large team servicing multiple provider accounts. Schagrin has a strong background in health IT and clinical business operations including healthcare billing and revenue cycle management specifically working with health plans, hospitals and physician practices. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Health Services Administration where she graduated with Summa Cum Laude Honors and earned her Master’s degree in Health Care Informatics; both from the University of Central Florida.
