(Orlando, August 20, 2013) Electronic health records was the topic of discussion on 90.7 News WMFE FM public radio today. As more physicians transition from paper charts to electronic records, Jose Rodas, executive director of UCF College of Medicine Regional Extension Center (REC) explained how healthcare is improving because of technology. The center has assisted more than 2,200 practitioners move from paper to electronic health records and has helped them qualify for more than $21.8 million  in federal incentive payments.

The UCF Regional Extension Center is one of 62 RECs established nationwide to help primary care providers adopt, implement and reach meaningful use of electronic health records. It serves seven Central Florida counties including Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Polk, Seminole and Volusia counties.
